This project will utilize an R statistical programmer to develop a dynamic and web-based geochemical visualization system for exploring X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) data hosted on “OpenContext,” a well-established open access archaeological repository. We will also convert and import existing geochemistry data from nearly 2000 analysis records contributed by participating researchers. The visualization tools will enable exploration and comparison of new geochemical data with data stored in the archive using the R open-source statistical package, but available in a simple web interface using R-Shiny. The system will further permit assignment of obsidian artifacts to known obsidian sources by referencing a library of Andean source geochemistry data provided by the Missouri University Research Reactor.
