The Digital Humanities at Berkeley Summer Institute (DHBSI) will be held from August 15 - 19, 2016. Applicants will take one week-long intensive workshop, but should indicate their second and third choices as well. Applicants should be able to demonstrate continuing affiliation with UC Berkeley through fall semester 2016.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Participants are encouraged to participate in teams of two in order to build the foundation for ongoing projects. Teams might be made up of a faculty member and a graduate student, two graduate students, a graduate student and an undergrad, or any other combination of roles. Each team can submit a single application that addresses the shared research or project interests of both individuals. Research team members may attend different, complementary workshops.
- The Institute will be a full-time commitment for the week of August 15-19. To receive adequate instruction and support on their projects, students must attend from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for each of the five days of the institute.
- Participants will need to bring their own laptop to the institute. Workshop instructors will confirm final technical requirements for their class several weeks before the institute.
- Participants agree to either (a) bring a laptop that meets specified requirements to the institute or (b) contact a DH consultant to discuss borrowing a laptop that meets these requirements.
